Music at EmmanuelMusic is an extra-curricular activity that is offered to students from first grade up. Music is an opportunity for students to learn the basics of reading music to the more advanced competitions. Music classes in first and second grade teach the children how to read music and the different symbols in music. In third through sixth grade, the students get an opportunity to expand their musical talents when they begin playing the recorder. The record is a small wind instrument that is used in a patriotic concert at the end of each school year. The students in these grades are also exposed to percussion instruments like drums and xylophones that are used in the annual concert. Each year our students in elementary through sixth grades participate in a Christmas program that presents the saving gospel of Jesus Christ.
The students who choose to continue music classes through middle and high school have an opportunity to participate in competitions. The sixth grade students sing together in a sixth grade choir competition, and the seventh and eighth grade go to a middle school competition. Once in high school, the students participate in the High School Choir. This choir has been ranked superior every year of competition and have had the opportunity to sing with the city orchestra. The High School Chorus also sings with the drama class in churches and chapels. Music lessons in voice, piano, stings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion are also available at an additional fee. |
