Our Computer Lab
In addition to our classroom technology, Emmanuel Christian School features a computer lab, containing 26 workstations. Each workstation is loaded with Windows 7 and Office 2010. In the computer lab, Emmanuel students will learn highly valuable skills that are required by today’s job market.
Here are the activities Emmanuel requires computer lab students to complete:
Microsoft Excel
Students will learn to build and read spreadsheets. These skills will serve students well in many fields of employment.
Microsoft PowerPoint
Students will have to build and present a PowerPoint presentation to the classroom.
Microsoft Word
We don’t require students to write a report in the computer lab but we do require them to learn how to properly format a report. Students learn how to import tables and charts, format columns, insert page numbers, and adjust margins.
Microsoft Publisher
Students are taught to design a single-fold flyer.
Access Database
Students are taught to run queries against a relational database. This is a valuable skill for anyone considering studying in the fields of computer science and software engineering.
HTML
Because the web is so ubiquitous, every student in Emmanuel’s computer lab is instructed how to code a full HTML web page.
Video Editing
Lab students will learn the basics of video editing and will have the opportunity to create brief live-action or claymation movies.
Google Apps
This is a suite of tools that can help you increase opportunities for critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity in the classroom.
