savoy jones scholarship

Each year Mr. and Mrs. Chris Jones honor their son, Savoy, who collapsed on the basketball court years ago, by awarding a scholarship to a rising senior at Emmanuel. We are incredibly thankful for the great generosity of the Jones family.

What is the CSJ commemorative scholarship?

My name is Christopher Jones, and I reside in Dothan, Alabama with my wife Sophia.

We have two children, our daughter Christina and son Christopher (Savoy).  On February 5, 2013, our family’s lives were forever changed.  For reasons still unknown, we lost our son and brother Savoy.  He was 15 years 8 months old, and collapsed during basketball practice; however, he never lost consciousness.  The coaching staff called 911, and when the ambulance arrived, they transported Savoy to the nearest hospital and several hours later, Savoy Jones passed away.  We were completely devastated, and not a day goes by he is not thought of and missed!

The CSJ Commemorative Scholarship, was founded by Mr. William (Bill) Stickler and the Jones Family (Chris, Sophia, and Christina), to honor their son, brother, and close friend Christopher Savoy Jones.  It was evident to all who knew Savoy that his faith in God was strong.  Therefore, as a way to continue the impact Savoy had while he was a student at Emmanuel Christian School, Chris, Sophia, and Christina Jones, host an Annual Savoy Jones Scholarship Benefit event in honor of Savoy.

The Savoy Jones Scholarship designed to provide one family of a senior student at Emmanuel Christian School (ECS) a full scholarship for their senior year, allowing them to prepare for the next level of education.

Emmanuel Christian School is successfully shaping their youth into strong young adults, who walk in the way of the Lord.
