Past Projects

New York, New York

October 2007

We took a team of five to New York City along with 2,000 Bibles and tracts. The students got to share their faith with literally thousands in New York. It was an awesome experience and one that we hope to capture again in future mission trips.

Operation Christmas Child

November 2008

Operation Christmas Child was a huge success. This mission has been taking place in our community for years, and this year we decided that it was gonig to take first place in our mission projects. We were praying for a total of 50 box to send overseas, this would have been two boxes from each class. You saw the need and filled it, litterally. Your generocity filled 151 shoe boxes, trippling our goal. This can only be done by God's blessings. We had the opportunity to work in the local distribution center that prepared the boxes for shipping to the Atlanta distribution center.

This year we are going to be participating in Operation Christmas Child again, and we know that God will bless a second time. Our goal for this year is 200 boxes. Making a box up for a child is not hard or very expensive. They are excited when they receive a gift from you, and it gives those distributing the boxes the opportunity to share the GIFT of God. Be a blessing this year by helping, and practicing the Great Commission.

MISSION TO CHINA

The letters that are sent out each year durring our Heritage Week often generate return letters from the school's that our students contact. This past year there was one special letter that was sent to an ACSI school in Shenzhen, China. This letter was very encouraging and exciting. It came from a school that has a total of 15 South Korean students wanting a Christian education and have found it in the private boarding school in China. The ministry of the school is supported by a couple of local churches. This is exciting because Christianity is not the main or even close to a main religion in China, but God works everywhere He is allowed. This letter not only thanked us for the encouragement, but invited us to come and work along side their students and staff.

Through several e-mails and phone conversations, we are planning to take a group of students and adults to Shenzhen, China in June 2010 for 11 days. This opportunity may only come once in a lifetime, and we don't want to pass on what God has handed us. We will be traveling out of Atlanta on June 24 headed for Hong Kong and then on to Shenzhen the following day. We will spend a total of 8 days in Shenzhen working in the school and the local church. One of our greatest fears in going to China is that none of us know any Manderin Chinese. While there may be interpreters, it would make it difficult to communicate without knowing the language. Then God has to remind us that if He prepares the way, he will not forsake us half way through the work. The mission that we are going to be doing is teaching English Classes to students and adults in the evening, during which we will be allowed to share the gospel. We will also be participating in a Cultural Fair that will focus on the three cultures present: Chinese, South Korean, and American (Southern American that is).

We will also be taking some time to learn about the culture in the area and doing a bit of sight seeing, since this may be the only time that many in our group will ever visit the country.

As with any mission trip, there are financial needs. Since we know God has prepared the way, we know he will prepare the entire way, so we know that God will provide the resources necessary. This may be through your help and support. The toal cost for each participant will be $2,800, with most of the cost tied up in airfare and insurance. This can be a daunting task for many people, so we are asking for your help. You can help of course by praying for our group, but you can also support us financially. You may bring a donation to the school during the day or you may make a donation online through the link below. All donation online will go through PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, it is free to sign up. Please remember that all donations made to the missions program of Emmanuel Christian School are tax deductable as a contribution to a non-profit organization.
